About UK Student Films

UK Student Films is an online resource for any and all student film production enthusiasts in the UK.

At UK Student Films you can find useful information on filming and producing, and links to online shops for all your filming requirements. You can discuss your film ideas, experiences and exploits with other fellow film students, throughout the UK, via the UK Student Films Forums. But, most importantly of all, you can host your own films directly on the site. Submit your film to us and have it streamed over the internet to anyone in the world with an internet connection. Let the entire globe be your potential audience!

The idea for UK Student Films came whilst I was a student at the University of Leicester studying Computer Science. I spent most, if not all, of my spare time working at LUST (Leicester University Student Television) as the Assistant Director-General - Vice President in simple terms. Myself and a fellow student, who had already began to re-create the long forgotton and inexistent TV station, spent every spare minute filming, interviewing, editing, organising events and multitasking in every conceivable sense. We remained a two-man team for quite some time, doing everything that a TV station does, entirely on our own. Eventually we recruited some other members, LUST became more recognised and received a Union grant to perchase new equipment. Throughout the year I personally filmed, edited and produced at least 4 full length DVDs multiple short films and edited reems of footage.

After my graduation I found myself bored and missing all that I used to do at LUST. I made a few short films but had noone to show them to and no way of doing so to any large audience. It was during a vistit back to Leicester and LUST at the beginning of the accademic year that I had the idea for UK Student Films. I had spent many hours on the internet looking for a particular site with a particular recipe, but it simply didn't exist. UK Student Films was born and within a few weeks I began creating what I hope will one day become a thriving online community and respectable independant film resource.
